Prohibition on overtime work to enter into force

Monday, 1 March 2010

A generally binding collective labour contract represents basic security in a work relationship. The Finnish Construction Trade Union is currently negotiating with the employers’ organizations regarding collective labour contracts. In order to speed up negotiations, the Finnish Construction Trade Union has declared a national overtime work prohibition with respect to all our contract fields, starting 1 March. This means that employees in the field will not work longer workdays than eight hours. Moreover, work time must be positioned between the period of 7.00h – 16.00h (7 am – 4 pm). This prohibition on overtime work shall last until negotiation results are obtained in our contract fields.
